Why Does Forgiveness Often Lag?

We demand to bear in intellect that it's okay for the absolute familiarity of forgiveness, of healing, to lag. This also helps us know why others might find it dense to forgive us; beyond their own best-of-efforts. Why do we judge them for a lack of intimacy when we also have contributed barriers?
